Smosh Games creator leaves channel amidst sexual assault allegations

Amra “Flitz” Ricketts, a popular YouTube personality and member of Smosh Games, has left the network following a string of sexual assault accusations.

Ricketts took to Twitter over the weekend to announce his departure.

He details the reasons behind leaving, and explains he's parting ways with the network to ensure the Smosh brand isn't further tarnished.

Smosh Games is the gaming arm of the popular YouTube sketch group, Smosh. The main Smosh YouTube channel has over 22 million subscribers and a premium show on YouTube Red.

Smosh Games boasts a huge following, with over seven million subscribers on YouTube. Ricketts has regularly contributed to the channel since 2014.

The allegations came to light on December 31, 2017, when performer Raquey Strange wrote on Facebook that Ricketts had sexually assaulted them. The post has since been removed from Facebook, presumably by Strange.

According to Kotaku, Strange accused the YouTuber of inviting Strange to his apartment to partake in an organised group sex activity.

“I started feeling really uneasy when he came up to me and fondled me,” Strange wrote. “I was upset and confronted him about consent. His reaction was that of, ‘oh fuck that. Don’t pull that shit on me. That’s not how this works. Not with me.’”

YouTuber AprilEff supported the claims via Twitter

Ricketts denies the allegations against him, professing that the allegations were made by a group of old friends.
