Twitch launches Prime’s Indie Amplifier to boost indie titles on the platform

Twitch is launching a new initiative with intent to promote a handful of indie games on the platform.

Indie Amplifier will allow Twitch Prime members to choose an indie title from a list. On March 11th, the voting will close and on March 15th, the title with the most votes will be distributed to all Twitch Prime members for free.

Developers of the top three games will share a sweet $175,000 prize too, as well as a heap of exposure from the platform itself.

The games in the running are below:

  • Tales from Candlekeep: Tomb of Annihilation (BKOM Studios)
  • Tumblestone (The Quantum Astrophysicists Guild)
  • Treadnauts (Topstitch Games)
  • High Hell (Terri Vellmann)
  • I, Hope (Arconyx Studios)
  • Shadow Tactics (Mimimi Productions)
  • Kingsway (Andrew Morrish)
  • SteamWorld Dig 2 (Image & Form)

Twitch has also put together a talk show in collaboration with production company N3rdfusion, which features Twitch streamers SimCopter1 and DizzyKitten streaming the title while members of N3rdfusion, Giantwaffle and Bacon_Donut will interview the developer or team behind the winning game.

Twitch's support should create a bigger buzz for the indie gaming scene. It can be all too tempting for streamers to stick to the bigger AAA titles to maximise their reach, rather than covering indie games.
