AI Basics: Thrills or Chills? is a workshop programme run by award-winning director Martin Percy. It explores the AI revolution and its social and political implications. Rather than a lecture, AI Basics is designed as an open conversation where participants can share their views – whether excited, anxious, sceptical or conflicted about AI's impact. Martin Percy's work introduces key ideas, surfaces different perspectives and helps attendees form informed opinions about what's happening with generative AI and what should be done about it. It won a Webby Award in 2024 for best virtual public service.
