Facebook poaches HP's global chief marketing officer Antonio Lucio

HP's global chief marketing and communications officer has been snapped up to do exactly that same job at Facebook.

Antonio Lucio starts his new role at the social media giant on September 4th. His main point of contact will be Facebook chief product officer Chris Cox. Cox shared a photo of himself and Lucio to Facebook announcing the news.

Lucio's career boasts senior roles at a handful of huge corps including PepsiCo and Kraft. Prior to his tenure at HP, Lucio was the global CMO at Visa.

Best of the best

“[Antonio] has an extraordinary reputation in the industry as a leader, a marketer, an operator, and a wise, gracious, and deeply principled human being,” said Cox in a statement.

“He has been outspoken on the need to build authentic global brands with integrity and from places of principle, and also on the importance of building diverse teams at every level in the organization. From all our interactions with him, he is a force of nature, and we are lucky to have him.”

Lucio added: "purpose and impact have been at the centre of every career decision that I have ever made. Facebook is one of the world’s most impactful brands, at a pivotal moment in its history.”

Lucio is succeeding Gary Briggs, who announced he'd be departing from Facebook back in January. After four and a half years with the company, he now plans to focus more on consultancy services and political work.
