Facebook is currently testing new ways to share Stories content with users.

The feature is similar to Instagram's popular Stories tool, but it hasn't resonated on Facebook just yet. As a result, the platform is trialing a new feed that combines normal posts with Stories.

The new feature, designed for the mobile app, will group together stories and news feed posts, presenting it in a swipeable form. If the new feature is rolled out to all Facebook users, it would then would turn the news feed into something much closer to how Instagram stories look.

Jane Manchun Wong, a software engineer and researcher, shared a tweet with her thoughts about the changes. She was part of the test of users trying out the new feature on their own Facebook profiles, sharing screenshots of the feature in action.

Early testing

Facebook confirmed to TechCrunch that this was still in early testing, but did not give any idea if or when the feature would be given to the public.

It's possible that the feedback from users testing the feature now will help Facebook determine if they’ll implement the changes for everyone who uses the platform on mobile devices.
