47% of British gamers also watch Let's Play videos online

Nearly half of British gamers also watch Let's Play videos online, according to a new survey of nearly 2,500 Brits conducted by VoucherCodesPro.

The survey of adult games found that 47% watch Let's Play videos, with an average weekly viewing time of six hours. 34% of these people said they watch the videos "when taking a break from gaming", while 20% watch them in bed and 19% while gaming themselves.

Bear in mind that the survey only covered people older than 18 years old: if younger teenagers were included, the percentage would be considerably higher than 47%.

There are some useful stats to bolster the influencer-marketing world as it relates to games too. 49% of gamers who watch Let's Plays said that they "like to hear real reviews before I purchase a game" – although that's also another reminder of why prominent disclosure when a video has been paid for is so important.

56% of Let's Play viewers said they'd bought at least one game because of a video they'd watched, while 38% said they'd had their minds changed about a game from watching someone play through it online.

The survey also found that the average gamer plays for 22 hours a week, with 31% saying Sony's PS4 was their favourite gaming device, 26% an Xbox One and 25% a PC.
