Far-right ‘news’ channel InfoWars nears YouTube ban

YouTube has indicated that Alex Jones’ controversial ‘news’ network InfoWars is two strikes away from being banned.

CNN reports that the channel is flying close to the wind following the recent criticism YouTube faced about the promotion of fake news in the wake of the Florida school shootings.

InfoWars, which specialises in crazy alt-right conspiracy theories, was among those who slammed survivor David Hogg. Its video on the subject has now been removed from the platform having previously topped YouTube's trending charts.

The incident apparently resulted in a strike against InfoWars – if it receives two more within the next three months, it will be banned. CNN has subsequently highlighted a further three videos from InfoWars that could breach YouTube’s guidelines and are currently being reviewed.

Tin Foil Hat

Jones has previously published videos claiming that the Sandy Hook school shootings in 2012 were fake. He does not claim that the Florida shootings were a hoax, but has alleged that many of the survivors, including Hogg, are ‘crisis actors’ who are being paid by the Democrats and/or anti-gun lobby.

Jones has also stated that there is “officially a 90 per cent chance” that the Florida shooting was a “deep state false flag operation” which presumably has been conjured to try and further the efforts of those calling for increased gun control.

To sum up Jones, he’s the only guy in the world who can claim that butch lesbians want to eat your brains and have that not be among the Top 10 most ludicrous things he’s ever said. His most memorable work is arguably the claim that the US government has a weather weapon that can both create and direct clusters of tornadoes. Really.

InfoWars currently has 2.2m subscribers on YouTube.
