YouTuber has channel terminated over several 'pro paedophilia' videos

A creator has had his channel removed by YouTube after several of his videos were found to contain 'pro paedophilia' speech.

Amos Yee, 19, is a Singaporean YouTuber living in the United States. His channel, where he frequently expressed controversial views, had over 40,000 subscribers

Yee posted a Facebook status on May 6th saying "My Youtube Channel and all the videos there have been completely taken down because of my views defending pedophilia."

YouTube states in its community guidelines that it is "very sensitive to any harmful or dangerous content that involves minors."

Why are you like this

This isn't the first time Yee has caused a rift with his opinions. The creator has been imprisoned in Singapore twice over his views on religion and state authorities.

He also contributed to the US Toy Assocation removing advertisements from YouTube after one of their campaigns was found next to Yee's content promoting paedophilia.

According to the BBC, Yee was also asked to leave his accommodation in December 2017 over his strong pro-paedophilia views.

Yee does not shy from criticism - his social media is also brimming with controversial statements. While creative freedom is something that YouTube endeavours to encourage, its priority lies with protecting its audience and its advertisers from terribleness, and rightly so.
