YouTube Disney remixer Pogo admits to extreme homophobia

In an astonishing video, remix artist Nick Bertke, otherwise known as ‘Pogo’, has expressed some extremely disturbing views about homosexuality.

Bertke, who is Australian, is best known for remixing Disney tracks and his hits include this remix of Despicable Me.

In a video recorded in 2016, Bertke explained his username of ‘Faggotron’ by saying that he has “always had a thorough dislike of homosexuals”. He adds: “I’ve never liked a grown man acting like as 12 year old girl. I’ve always found that to be quite disgusting. I thought to myself ‘how best can I express to the world that gays are an abomination?’… Nothing expresses the sissyness of a gay guy quite like the word ‘faggot’.”

He also expresses support for the Orlando shooting in 2016 that targeted a gay nightclub and, in referencing Islam, claims it is “fantastic” that “the West is actually welcoming in a culture through the floodgates that wants gays dead”.

The full video is here, although as the above suggests, it’s pretty full-on.

Hopefully career ending

Bertke has since tried to reign in the controversy in a newer video in which he spends a lot of time berating ‘social justice warriors’ and his perception that political correctness is wrongfully limiting free speech.

He also re-writes the origins of ‘Faggotron’ by now claiming that in his youth the word ‘faggot’ actually didn’t have sexual connotations and was simply a broader insult.

The closest he comes to actually apologising is expressing regret about the possibility that anything he may have said may have upset people or resulted in people “contemplating suicide”.

He adds: “I feel very strongly that it’s been very naive behaviour on my part. If I’m going to tuck my tail between my legs and admit anything, it’s that these posts and these videos and these things are made for the sake of being edgy have not contributed to any productive conversation.”
