Twitter's Jack Dorsey is not going to ban Alex Jones - and here's why

Twitter overlord Jack Dorsey has revealed why Infowars' Alex Jones is still running rampant on the platform.

Jones has been silenced by a handful of platforms this past week. YouTube, Facebook and Apple have all banned any outlet pertaining to the conspiracy-flinging wildcard.

However, Dorsey is adamant that Jones has not violated any of Twitter's rules in his crusade for right-wing righteousness.

In a series of tweets, Dorsey said that the choice to not ban Alex Jones or Infowars comes from a plan to "promote a healthy conversational environment" and then adds that Jones will be banned if he does break any rules.

"We’re going to hold Jones to the same standard we hold to every account, not taking one-off actions to make us feel good in the short term," Dorsey adds.

"If we succumb and simply react to outside pressure, rather than straightforward principles we enforce (and evolve) impartially regardless of political viewpoints, we become a service that’s constructed by our personal views that can swing in any direction. That's not us."

He then goes on to address journalists, implying that is the media's responsibility to "document, validate, and refute" conspiracy theories and fake news so people can "form their own opinions".
