YouTube Music signs two year deal to become first presenting sponsor of the American Music Awards

YouTube has joined forces with the American Music Awards (AMAs) with a two year sponsorship deal.

The deal appears to be a huge push for the newly launched YouTube Music. The service will be pushed by the AMAs as the go-to service for streaming music and videos.

Details surrounding the partnership are thin on the ground at this stage, but a rep from AMA organiser Dick Clark Productions said the company will be providing "creative content to support the show". Said content will be availabe on the AMAs' official channel.

Music to my wallet

YouTube redesigned and relaunched its music subscription service back in June. It aims to become a one stop shop for media of all types, subtely rivalling the likes of Spotify and Apple Music.

YouTube Music is available on its own for £9.99 a month, but users can upgrade to YouTube Premium for an extra £2 a month if they want access to videos too.

“YouTube Music’s partnership with The American Music Awards is a natural extension of the intimate artist-fan connection that is made possible on YouTube’s global platform,” said global head of marketing for YouTube Music, TV and originals Angela Courtin.

CEO of Dick Clark Prods. Mike Mahan added: "YouTube brings global reach, awareness and engagement to the American Music Awards unlike ever before. We look forward to enhancing the AMAs in a unique, innovative and immersive way.”

The 2018 AMAs will air on ABC in the U.S. on Tuesday 9th October.
