YouTuber Shane Dawson assures internet that he's not engaging in sexual activity with his cat

YouTuber Shane Dawson has issued a statement online regarding jokes he made about his cat.

The 30-year-old star took to Twitter to address the accusation, after making jokes about performing sex acts on the animal.

A clip of Dawson on a podcast surfaced over the weekend, during which he discusses his pets. In the clip, he is heard saying: "the things I have done to my poor animals - they will never love me".

He then goes on to describe participating in a sex act with the feline in unnecessary detail.

Of course, the internet lit up at the discovery and flocked to criticise the YouTuber, prompting him to explain to his 7.9m Twitter followers that what he'd said on the podcast was a joke.

"I didnt f*ck my cat," Dawson tweeted.

"I didn't c*m on my cat. I didn't put my dick anywhere near my cat. I've never done anything weird with my cats. I promised myself I wasn't going to make apology videos after last years thing so I'm just trying to be as short and honest with this as possible.

"That story was fake and was based on a dumb awful sketch idea I had years ago that I never made (THANK GOD) and when the opportunity came up for a funny moment in the podcast I told it as if it was a real story which was DISGUSTING and VERY VERY DUMB."

Dawson is no stranger to discourse. His YouTube documentaries surrounding various topics keep his fans and followers talking. The creator recently made a series of long-form videos exploring the existence of Jake Paul.

However, while some people have been swift to recognise that he was making a joke, others have criticised him for making such a stupid statement in the first place.
