Ninja sets new record as channel passes 50,000 Twitch subscribers

Twitch streamer Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins has passed the 50,000 subscriber milestone on Twitch.

This apparently sets a new record for a solo streamer, although it’s impossible to know for sure as few streamers choose to share their subscriber counts. The feat comes less than a week after Ninja hit the 40,000 mark.

With Blevins earning around $3.50 from every $5 subscription, this represents annual earnings of around $2m – and that excludes the huge number of donations and income from sponsorships and advertising.

Blevins also hit two million followers around the same time.

"Not going to slow down"

“Here were are... 50,000 ninjas strong,” he said as he hit the target live on stream.

“I love you guys so much, thank you so much for the support. I really, really have been waiting for this for a long time. I hope you guys continue to enjoy the stream. I’m not going to stop, I’m not going to slow down.”

Blevins has been streaming since 2013, back when Twitch was still known as Justin.tv and he was specialising in Halo. His popularity started to skyrocket when he switched initially to PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, and then to Fortnite.

Blevin recently raised $110k for Suicide Prevention charities. He set up the charity stream after the loss of a close friend and had hoped to raise $25k. YouTuber MrBeast donated $30k to the cause.
