YouTube adds auto-translation and location tags to livestreams

YouTube has made some changes to its livestreaming and live chat services.

The platform has released a chat replay feature, so the chat alongside a stream will be archived alongside the video as it appeared when it was first broadcast.

YouTube is also rolling out automated English captions to live streams, so that streams in other languages can be viewed and understood by English speaking viewers.

The platform's 'live automatic speech recognition' (LASR) technology will translate speech in real-time.

Location location location

Creators and livestreamers can stream from anywhere on YouTube, and from today they'll have the ability to tag their stream to a location.

Viewers can then discover videos that have been filmed in that same location by clicking on the tag.

YouTube also rolled out Super Chat services on iOS. Super Chat released on desktop and android last year.
