Internet users are spending more time on YouTube than Facebook

Facebook seems to be lagging behind behind Google in terms of usership, according to a new report.

Google services, particularly YouTube and Waze, accounts for 27.4 per cent of all time spent using digital media. Facebook's timeshare has fallen down to 16.3 per cent according to pivotal research analyst Brian Wieser.

Nielsen released it's digital content ratings study this week. The numbers show that YouTube represents half of all Google activity. Time spent on other Google services grew by 33 per cent.

In contrast to that, Facebook lost five per cent in time spent, even though it's userbase grew by four per cent.

Is Facebook dead?

Facebook's advertisement strategy is largely based on recurring visits. Users visit the site frequently, which means the app can collect more data in order to target ads effectively.

In addition to users spending less time there, the social network isn't having a great time in the media right now either in light of Cambridge Analytica.
