Ninja and other streamers help Guardian Con raise $2.7 million for charity

An annual charity stream hosted by Guardian Con this week has raised $2.7 million for St. Jude Children's Hospital, setting a new record for fundraising.

Streamers such as Ninja, DrLupo and KingRichard were involved in the streaming event, this year was it’s third year running. In 2017, $1.35 million was raised for St Jude.

Closing out the event, Tyler 'Ninja' Blevins streamed Fortnite for five hours. During the stream, Ninja received the biggest donation of the event by an anonymous donor, who donated $100,000 to St Jude.

New rules

Ninja set a number of rules for himself to help to raise more money, such as all grey weapons, no healing and promised that he would get tattoos if they hit certain thresholds during the stream.

Dr Lupo, a fellow streamer and someone who often duos with Ninja, raised over $350,000 during his stream.

Guardian Con set a goal of $2.4 million this year which they exceeded by a long way.

Ninja has said he plans to return to Guardian Con in 2019, where they aim to raise three million dollars.
