AwesomenessTV is now headed by two of the company's executives

Viacom has put two AwesomenessTV executives in charge of its digital division.

Media network AwesomenessTV was acquired by Viacom back in June. Former executives Rebecca Glashow (pictured right) and Shelley Zimmerman are now co-heads of Awesomeness' content going forward. Both will report to VDS president Kelly Day, who left AwesomenessTV last November.

Prior to this, Glashow held the role of chief strategy and distribution officer at Awesomeness, while Zimmerman was the head of the company's TV studio.

Hitting the niché

Viacom has said that Awesomeness bridges the gap between their two major brands, Nickelodeon and MTV, hitting a younger, online crowd that the two aforementioned companies struggle to reach. Awesomeness just released the Netflix original 'To All The Boys I've Loved Before' which has been met with positive reviews.

“I will say that I think we’re going to wake up a year from now and find that we got the bargain of a lifetime,” VDS president Kelly Day said in a recent interview with Variety.

Day discussed that Awesomeness suffered from a "complicated ownership structure" that made operations difficult, spurring the acqusition by Viacom.

“I think the company is fundamentally worth more than the situation that was in front of them.”
