Twitch streamer banned for sexually suggestive 'prank'

Twitch streamer banned for sexually suggestive 'prank'

Streamer 'HelixFlame' pulled a fast one on Twitch viewers last week by baiting them into watching a stream of video of a woman dancing erotically.

According to Dexerto, the prank brought more than 120 viewers into his stream, with many vocally expressing their annoyance in Twitch chat. HelixFlame explained his reasoning for the prank as a way to show how easy it was to bring “horny” viewers into a live broadcast.

After playing the provocative video for a few minutes, the chat became full with people. Suddenly, HelixFlame made the stream go black and began taunting viewers in the chat, saying: “there’s fucking one hundred people here. Okay, really? You horny motherfuckers.”

Double standards

Shortly after, HelixFlame revealed he had been punished by Twitch in a video posted on YouTube. His account was banned indefinitely by the video streaming platform for the stunt.

HelixFlame says his account was suspended for “sharing sexually suggestive content or activities” according to Twitch’s statement. No date was given to him for when his channel might be reinstated.

In his video, Helix heavily suggests his ban is indicative of a big double standard on Twitch, citing how other streamers like Amouranth show content just as or more suggestive than what he was showing.

This has been an ongoing debate on Twitch for a long time, some instances have seen streamers like Amouranth receive lighter punishments for their suggestive content, while others have been outright banned on the platform. No other statements were made from Twitch on the matter.
