Brand ambassador for Triller raises $50,000 in three days to fund college tuition

An ambassador for an AI music app has raised $50,000 in three days.

After putting out a plea for help on Triller, 17 year old Lea Elui managed to raise $50,000 to pay for her college tuition.

Elui is living her best life on Triller - producing lifestyle and fun dancing videos. She has ranked up 5 million followers on Instagram and over 400,000 followers on Triller.

Triller itself has a userbase of over 28 million.

“It was really fast, so crazy,” Elui said in an interview with VentureBeat. “I’m really surprised and so happy.”

Recently, Triller added a new feature which allows creators to fundraise money via fans, brands and music labels to meet fundraising goals such as college funds. Elui was the first to use the new feature and over 3,000 supporters helped to fund her tuition.

Over the years, student loan debt has increased to $1.8 trillion. The cost of attending a four year public university is now $40,000.

Public fundraising has become a lot more common on social media and fundraising platforms over recent years, with websites like GoFundMe and JustGiving on the rise.

Social influencers and content creators alike have been using online content as a main source of income and features like the one on Triller help creators make it sustainable.
