Popular apps might be recording your phone screen without you knowing

A new report now claims that a number of very popular apps for mobile phones might actually be recording info on their screens.

The report comes from TechCrunch, which states that some iPhone apps gather information and store it elsewhere without the user's permission. This could be location info, personal info stored on your phone, and much more.

Some of the companies named in the report include Expedia and Hollister, which the report claims to record your phone screen while using their apps. This is done through the use of technology from another company called Glassbox. It claims that they are able to reconstruct the mobile application view in a visual format, which is definitely bad news for anybody that values their privacy.

No official word has come from any aforementioned company as of yet in response to TechCrunch’s report. It’s unclear at the moment what consequences will come from the information brought up by the report, or if any legal action might be taken by someone in relation to it.

However, it may be safe to assume users might not be happy about their phones being recorded without their knowledge.
