Speedrunning community Games Done Quick raised over $400k for coronavirus relief efforts this weekend.
The marathon kicked off on Friday Afternoon and ran into Sunday evening, and saw the speedrunning community come together to play a host of different games.
But instead of ramming hundreds of gamers into one hotel, the event took place entirely online with the speedrunners dialling in from home. All of the proceeds from the event were donated to Direct Relief, a charity set up to provide support for key workers throughout the COVID-19 outbreak.
We also managed to break $400k raised for @DirectRelief! How about that!

Thank you so much to everyone for all your effort and all the money you have donated towards this wonderful charity during this marathon! #CRDQ
Summer games
GDQ's summer event, SGDQ, has also been postponed due to the ongoing pandemic. The annual fundraiser will now take place on August 16-23.
Speedrun submissions for the previous SGDQ dates have been wiped, and anyone wishing to take part in the event will need to reapply. In 2019, SGDQ raised over $3m for the Prevent Cancer Foundation (PCF).
